October 22, 2025.- The Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera 2025, which will celebrate its new edition from November 7 to 16, announces the feature films that complete the Official Competition Section, with eight international productions, four of them directed by women. Among them are some of the most awaited titles of the season, proposals for all tastes, from the most extreme to an adventure for all audiences: Draculaby Luc Besson, The Legend of Ochi, Blood Shine, Redux Redux, Mother of Flies, Mother's baby, Dog of God y The Black Holewhich will celebrate its Spanish premiere at the Isla Calavera Festival. These titles are in addition to Gatillero, Disforia, Singular, Luger and the Canarian production The Thing in the Mistpreviously announced.

Among the new selection, we can highlight the particular version of Dracula by Luc Besson, a cinematic spectacle. After Dogman, the legendary director of The Fifth Element (1997) returns to actor Caleb Landry to play Bram Stoker's character, tragic, charming and deeply human.

Produced by A24, the Skull Island Festival presents The Legend of Ochia fantasy film inspired by the youth cinema of the 80's, aimed at family audiences. This is the film debut of Isaiah Saxon, American screenwriter and director known for his innovative music videos for artists such as Björk. The cast includes the young German actress Helena Zengel, along with established actors such as Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson and Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things.

The creators of the acclaimed horror film Alone With You (2021), Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks present. Blood Shinewhere a religious fanatic kidnaps a young filmmaker and promises him that her sadistic rituals will turn him into a god.

Meanwhile, brothers Kevin and Mathew McManus, writers and producers of the Emmy-nominated series American Vandal and Cobra Kai, have signed on to write the sci-fi thriller Redux Redux. Starring Michaela McManus, sister of the directors, the film explores revenge through the concept of parallel universes. The plot revolves around Irene Kelly, a woman who, in an attempt to avenge the death of her daughter, travels through different realities to kill the murderer over and over again.

After the celebrated Hell Hole and Where the Devil Roams, the trio of filmmakers known as the Adams family unfolds a twisted fable shot in the woods of the Catskill in southeastern New York that won the Cheval Noir Award for Best Film at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal. Mother of Fliesby Zelda Adams, Toby Poser and John Adams, revolves around a woman who turns to black magic to cope with a deadly diagnosis.

Austrian director and screenwriter Johanna Moder directs Mother's Babystarring Marie Leuenberger, Hans Löw and Claes Bang, star of the 2020 miniseries Dracula. The film, which was part of the official section of Berlinale 2025, follows Julia, who undergoes an experimental procedure to fulfill her wish to become a mother, but after a complicated delivery, she doubts whether the baby they bring home is really hers.

In addition, animation for adults will be represented by Dog of Godby Lauris and Raitis Abele, through a disturbing story that takes the viewer to a medieval village in Livonia where superstition, witchcraft and lycanthropic legends come together.

From Estonia, the selection is completed with the sci-fi comedy The Black Holeby Moonika Siimets, who proposes a unique and symbolic look at desire and human transformation through the fantastic and the everyday. Intertwining several stories, it narrates an extraterrestrial encounter that will transform the lives of those who cross paths with the alien visitors.
