November 3, 2025.- The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera 2025, which will celebrate its new edition from November 7 to 16, announces the special participation of the master of visual effects and miniatures Simon Weisse, recognized for his spectacular work in the films of Wes Anderson (Isle of Dogs, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Asteroid City) and the Wachowski sisters (V for Vendetta, Cloud Atlas, Matrix Resurrections), among many others.
The German artist will offer a free master class this Saturday, November 8, at 4:00 pm, at Multicines Tenerife, as part of the festival's official program. During the session, Simon Weisse will share with the audience his experience in the creation of handcrafted models and miniature effects that have given life to unique cinematic universes.
He is one of the world leaders in contemporary practical effects, and his career includes collaborations with other directors such as Terry Gilliam, Wim Wenders, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, Roland Emmerich, Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro. The event will offer an exceptional opportunity to learn first-hand about the creative processes behind their films and discover the artistic value of traditional techniques in the digital era.
Attendance will be free until full capacity is reached, in an activity aimed at students, professionals and lovers of the seventh art interested in the art of building film models.
