San Cristóbal de La Laguna, February 13, 2025 - The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera will celebrate its ninth edition from November 7 to 16, 2025 in Tenerife, with the participation of renowned national and international figures that will parade down the biggest red carpet of the archipelago. Fantastic film lovers will be able to enjoy over ten days of a varied program that will include both feature films and short films from different parts of the world, exhibitions and talks with fantasy as leitmotiv.

In addition, this year the festival is preparing an exciting novelty: the non-competitive section 'Made in the Canary Islands'. This section is dedicated to Canarian film creators, who will have this wide window to show their works framed in the fantastic genre to local and international audiences.

This initiative underscores the festival's involvement in promoting creativity and film culture in the Canary Islands and joins the Professional Industry Meeting and the S. S. Venture Award, which in previous editions has recognized the brilliant careers of Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Carolina Bang, Adrián Guerra, Marta González de Vega and Elio Quiroga.

The Isla Calavera Festival was born in 2017 and in its eight years of trajectory has achieved a significant impact and is considered one of the most relevant fantastic film meetings in the country, thanks to the firm sponsorship and vision of the City Council of La Laguna, through its Department of Culture, and the help of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands.

In the words of the co-directors of the festival, Daniel Fumero and Ramón González Trujillo, "the positioning of Isla Calavera on the national and international scene would not have been possible without the participation of great stars and talents that have put this film event on the map, thanks to the firm commitment of the City Council of La Laguna and other institutions". "We trust that, in this edition, both the Cabildo de Tenerife and the regional government will get involved in a decisive way, in order to face new challenges and promote Isla Calavera as a key point in the cultural agenda of the Archipelago. The festival has become a unique promotional tool that generates a very positive international echo", they add.
