As part of its program of classics, the VI Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna, Isla Calavera, held this week in Tenerife, proposes next Saturday, November 26 at Multicines Tenerife a special event dedicated to 'Demons' (1985), with the presence of director Lamberto Bava and the actress of the Italian horror classic Fabiola Toledo, born in the Canary Islands, who will participate in a cineforum after the screening.

Shot entirely in Berlin, 'Demons' is set in 1985 and tells the story of a young student who goes to the preview of a film at the Metropol cinema, where terror will not only be unleashed on the big screen, and which caused a great sensation, becoming "a pure and hard enjoyment, a trash entertainment, excessive, bizarre and over the top", as defined by Joan Luis Goas in the program 'Noche de Lobos'.

The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna recovers the film as a tribute to its director Lamberto Bava, who this year receives the Isla Calavera de Honor Award 2022. Tickets for this session, which will take place at 4:00 p.m., are already on sale at www.multicinestenerife.com and at the cinema box office.

Lamberto Bava, Skull Island of Honor Award 2022

Son of the legendary Italian director Mario Bava and grandson of Eugenio Bava, who was in charge of photography in titles such as 'Quo Vadis?' (1913), Lamberto Bava (Rome, 1944) began his career as assistant director and screenwriter to later work under the orders of Dario Argento in films such as 'Tenebre' and 'Inferno'. At his side, Lamberto Bava signed two of his most memorable feature films, 'Demons' and its sequel, 'Demons 2' (1986). The filmmaker worked the fantastic genre, horror, gore and giallo, for decades, with titles such as 'Knives in the Dark' (1983) or 'Shock' (1977).

The beginnings of the Gran Canarian actress Fabiola Toledo, with an important career in film, television and theater, date back to the late 70's, in Italy, with films like 'Il mammasantissima' (1979), by Alfonso Brescia, or 'Augh! Augh!' (1980), by Marco Toniato. In the early 80's he continued working in Italy, first with Joe D'Amato, with whom he made 'Caligula 3, the untold story' (1982). In 1983 he made his first film with Lamberto Bava, 'Knives in the dark', a thriller understood as a logical evolution of the Italian giallo of the 70s. Her second collaboration with Bava, 'Demons' (1985), where she shared the screen with Bobby Rhodes or Geretta Geretta, among others, makes her an icon of European fantastic cinema. In Spain, she has worked in titles such as 'Lorca, muerte de un poeta' (1987) or 'Disparate nacional' (1990).
