The year 2022 marks the 125th anniversary of the publication of Bram Stoker's novel 'Dracula', the classic of gothic literature that laid the foundations and iconography of the modern vampire. On numerous occasions, the story has been adapted for the cinema, but the version directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with a screenplay by James V. The screening will be followed by a film forum on the film, with the participation of experts. On its release in November 1992, 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' was very well received by audiences and won three Oscars in the categories of Best Costume Design, for the celebrated work of Eiko Ishioka; Best Sound Editing, for Tom C. McCarthy and David E. Stone; and Best Makeup for Greg Cannom, Michèle Burke and Matthew W. Mungle. The music composed by Wojciech Kilar for the feature film, which included in its end credits the song 'Love song for a vampire', written and performed by Annie Lennox, is one of the most acclaimed soundtracks in horror cinema.

The centenary of 'Nosferatu' will also be celebrated in Isla Calavera

The Skull Island Festival will also pay tribute this year to another of the most important versions of Bram Stoker's novel, with a major event dedicated to the silent film classic 'Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens('Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror'), by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, on the 100th anniversary of its premiere in 1922. Thus, on Wednesday, November 23, the film will be screened in a special session accompanied by music by Canary Islands composer Jonay Armas, written for the occasion.
