Javier Botet was born in Ciudad Real in 1977. He was diagnosed at a very young age with Marfan Syndrome, which is a genetic complication that lengthens the upper and lower limbs of the body. Botet reaches a height of two meters. This slim and elongated appearance has given him an imposing physique that the actor has been able to channel wonderfully in the movies.

He studied Art History and debuted in the series Cuéntame cómo pasó ( Spain, 2001-2023). In the cinema he debuted with the mythical director of the fantastic genre Brian Yuzna in the film Under calm waters (Beneath Still WatersSpain-USA, 2005). It would be his next film, [REC] (Spain, 2007), by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza and her role as Niña Medeiros would show the world the impact of Botet's powerful corporal expression and its infinite possibilities. His presence in the saga that began with the aforementioned film will undoubtedly lead to a long career, becoming a familiar presence in genre films where fans look for the new creature embodied by the Spanish actor.

In 2013 he entered Guillermo del Toro's universe with the film Mom (Mama, USA, 2013), by Andy Muschietti, produced by the Mexican filmmaker. From there, Botet gets important roles in the series The Strain (USA, 2014), one of whose creators is Del Toro, and in The Scarlet Summit (The Crimson Peak(USA, 2015), directed by del Toro. It (USA, 2017) again by Muschietti is also a Guillermo Del Toro production. For the moment, the most recent collaboration with the universe of the Mexican director and producer is Historias de miedo para contar en la oscuridad (Scary stories to tell in the darkUSA, 2019), directed by André Øvredal.

With the Basque Álex de la Iglesia's Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi (The Witches of Zugarramurdi, Spain, 2013), Hollywood is at his feet. It is worth noting here the phantasmagoric reveries of The Revenant (The Revenant, USA, 2015), by Alejandro González Iñárritu, and The Warren Files: The Enfield Case (The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, USA, 2016), by James Wan, where he plays the Crooked Man, one of the most iconic figures of the Warren franchise.

Ridley Scott summons him to play one of the xenomorph creatures in Alien: Covenant (Alien CovenantUSA, 2017). He plays Keyface in Insidious the Last Key (Insidious, the last key( Insidious, USA, 2018), by Adam Robitel. Among his latest appearances is The Last voyage of the Demeter (The Last voyage of the DemeterUSA, 2023), also directed by Ovredal, in which the Spanish actor plays Count Dracula, and The Bogeyman (Spain, 2023), by Ángel Gómez Hernández, alongside Macarena Gómez and Manolo Solo.

In television, Javier Botet has made special collaborations in Los Hombres de Paco ( Spain, 2007) or Pluto B.R.B. Nero (2008-2009), and above all Game of Thrones (Game of Thrones, USA, 2011-2019), among others. Botet has also directed some short films and segments of two collective films, Al final todos mueren ( Spain, 2013), co-directed by Javier Fesser and Roberto Pérez Toledo, and. #Sequence (Spain, 2013), co-directed by Montxo Armendáriz and Raúl Navarro. Javier Botet starred in and co-wrote Amigo (Spain, 2018), directed by Óscar Martín, whose performance was recognized ex-aequo alongside David Pareja at the Festival Isla Calavera 2019.

In the Festival Isla Calavera 2024 he participates with his new film Historias de Halloween, directed by Kiko Prada.
