The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna, Isla Calavera, will receive in its sixth edition the visit of John Landis, who will collect the Honorary Isla Calavera Award in recognition of his career as a master of fantastic cinema, with titles such as 'An American Werewolf in London' (1981), 'The Prince of Zamunda' (1988) or the mythical music video 'Thriller' (1983), by Michael Jackson. Oscar-nominated costume designer Deborah Nadoolman, to whom we owe the memorable costumes of Indiana Jones, will also be recognized with the honorary award. The honorees will be featured at a special event with live music and a screening of 'The Blues Brothers,' directed by Landis with Deborah Nadoolman's collaboration on the film's costume design.
The Isla Calavera Festival is finalizing details of the program of screenings and parallel activities, which will be held between November 18 and 26 at Multicines Tenerife, the Teatro Leal de La Laguna, different venues of the University of La Laguna, the streets and other enclaves of the World Heritage City. Thus, among the titles in competition will be the most awaited premieres by the followers of the fantastic genre, such as the Spanish productions 'La piedad', by Eduardo Casanova; 'Irati', by Paul Urkijo; 'Viejos' by Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez; or 'La paradoja de Antares', debut film by Luis Tinoco. The Lair', the new film by Neil Marshall, will be another of the Festival's highlights, along with other proposals such as 'Huesera', by Mexican director Michelle Garza Cervera, or 'Project Wolf Hunting', by South Korean filmmaker Kim Hong-sun.
The Festival's organizers made these announcements as part of the 55th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, where this Sunday they offered an important preview of the lineup.
John Landis
The filmmaker born in Chicago in 1950 John Landis is also responsible for other mythical titles, such as the comedies 'Entre pillos anda el juego' (1983) or 'El príncipe de Zamunda' (1988) and cult classics like 'Granujas a todo ritmo (The Blues Brothers)' (1980). The musical comedy starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as the popular Jake Blues and Elwood Blues will be the focus of the aforementioned special tribute session to the director, screenwriter, actor and producer with a screening of the film and a live performance of the most popular songs from the movie.

Deborah Nadoolman
His wife , Deborah Nadoolman Landis, will also visit the Skull Island Festival to collect her well-deserved Honorary Skull Island Award, for an extraordinary career as a costume designer for the cinema and responsible for one of the most iconic costumes in the history of the seventh art: that of the archaeologist Indiana Jones played by Harrison Ford, with his leather jacket and Fedora hat. She was nominated for an Oscar for her work in 'The Prince of Zamunda', in 1989, and for the Saturn Award from the American Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, in 1982, for 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', Since the comedy 'Made in USA' accompanied John Landis in his films and has in his filmography with other collaborations together as 'The Blues Brothers', with the unforgettable costumes of the singers (with black suit jacket, tie, hat and sunglasses), 'Three Friends' or the legendary Michael Jackson's music videos 'Thriller' and 'Black or White'.
