THE SECRETS OF 'LA ABUELA' COME TO "NOVIEMBRE FANTASMA" WITH PACO PLAZA AND ENRIQUE LÓPEZ LAVIGNE

A talk on Paco Plaza's long-awaited horror film, which opens this Friday in theaters, and which took place at the Isla Festival with the participation of the director and producer, becomes the star content with which the multimedia channel kicks off the year.

The online video channel NOVIEMBRE FANTASMA, an initiative of the main national fantastic genre film festivals held in the penultimate month of the year, kicks off the year with the premiere of the first contents recorded at the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival Isla Calavera: a talk about 'La abuela', the new horror film by Paco Plaza, as well as a round table discussion about the classic 'Los otros' by Alejandro Amenábar.

Thus, before the expected theatrical release this Friday, January 28th of Paco Plaza's new film, Noviembre Fantasma viewers will be able to enjoy the meeting that took place in Tenerife as part of a special session of the fifth edition of the Festival Isla Calavera after the screening of 'La abuela', with the presence of the director and producer Enrique López Lavigne (Apache Films) unraveling all the secrets of the film. Both had previously worked together on 'Verónica' (2017), achieving 7 Goya Award nominations. The journalist Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Villar moderated the colloquium open to the public about the feature film, in which the filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia intervened from the seats, who saw the film for the first time and defined it as "extraordinary, dense, powerful, with a disturbing naturalism that grabs you and doesn't let go; the best of Paco Plaza and the best of Spanish horror in years".

The Others', by Alejandro Amenábar

On the other hand, the NOVIEMBRE FANTASMA channel also offers the cineforum after the screening of 'Los otros', by Alejandro Amenábar, which took place as a pre-festival event Isla Calavera on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the classic Spanish horror film starring Nicole Kidman. The meeting was attended by the directors of the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, Daniel Fumero, Ramón González Trujillo and Vanesa Bocanegra, and the fantastic literature writer Víctor Conde. The event recalled the film, which in 2002 won eight Goya Awards out of the 15 for which it was eligible, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, as well as nominations for the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.

The online platform noviembrefantasma.com was born in 2020 to publish pieces of interest for the amateur public, largely exclusive, from the hand of four events that take place annually in November, the Horror and Fantasy Film Week of San Sebastian, Fancine (Malaga Fantasy Film Festival), TerrorMolins (Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival) and the Canary Islands Fantasy Film Festival Isla Calavera. Noviembre Fantasma serves, beyond its launching with the irruption of the pandemic, to disseminate and complement with alternative audiovisual material the programming of the four contests and to serve as a showcase for the public linked to the fantastic.
