Noviembre Fantasma, the joint initiative of the San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Week, Fancine - Malaga Fantasy Film Festival, TerrorMolins - Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival and Isla Calavera - Canary Islands Horror Film Festival Ciudad de La Laguna, is back for another autumn to celebrate its fourth season, expanding its catalog of contents related to the fantasy and horror genre. More than fifteen unpublished proposals will make up the new audiovisual delivery of this edition, which will be uploaded progressively from this Tuesday to the platform, setting one more year the premiere of the publications in October.
In this way, the four festivals once again bear witness to their collaborative commitment with this joint program that will serve as a prelude to the upcoming editions of the festivals, as an online complement to their on-site program and their agenda of parallel activities.
As usual, this program will be made up of a varied selection of pieces that will disseminate contents related to the fantastic genre in the cinematographic field. The Donostia Horror Week will program a talk by the American expert in horror culture David J. Skal, as well as a meeting with the actresses Lone Fleming and Marian Salgado. For its part, TerrorMolins will also add the dialogues that veteran director Mar Targarona ('El cuco') and filmmaker Caye Casas ('La mesaita del comedor') will hold with their spectators, along with a masterclass on the role of witches in horror films by film and genre expert Mireia Iniesta, and a talk on "terrifying comics" by prolific illustrator and filmmaker Borja Crespo.
The fancinera contribution will be materialized through four videos, including an interview with film critic Carlos Aguilar, in which he will talk about his latest book, Cine de Terror 1950-1959, de entre los muertos; and a lecture by José Fernández de Vega, director of 'Buñuel en el Laberinto de las Tortugas', who will explain the process of adapting this work. The Malaga festival will add a musical note to this collection with a concert by the heavy band Santo Rostro.
Three more pieces will arrive from Isla Calavera - Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna: actor Eduardo Noriega will once again "open his eyes" with the island audience after the screening of Alejandro Amenábar's classic; Sam J. Jones will return to space in a talk about Flash Gordon and the 90th anniversary of King Kong will be commemorated by Jesús Palacios.
All of them can be viewed free of charge on the www.noviembrefantasma.com platform.
With the incorporation of this new batch of titles, the permanent list of Ghost November videos now totals fifty pieces, an additional content that includes interviews with leading figures of the current film scene, film analysis, meetings with the public and other proposals of an educational nature.
Noviembre Fantasma was born in 2020 as a result of the restrictions imposed by the health crisis, thus creating a network of collaboration between some of the main genre festivals in the country, which share common goals and the same philosophy and style. It is a project with a vocation of permanence whose purpose is to offer throughout the year material of its own label, in addition to working in a coordinated manner to instill among the general public a taste for the fantastic and other related genres, forming quarry.
The platform also facilitates the confluence of the public of the respective events, in order to promote a nationwide fandom that encourages participation and reciprocity. After four years of activity, Phantom November has established itself as a meeting point for fantasy genre enthusiasts from different venues, connecting them virtually with twinned events that they can be part of despite the distance.
