A month away from the celebration of its 2019 edition, the III Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Isla Calavera, which will take place in Tenerife from November 23 to 30, will unveil this Friday in Madrid a new preview of its program. The presentation will take place as part of the parallel activities of the VII International Fantastic Film Festival Nocturna Madrid, starting at 11:15 am at the FNAC Callao Forum, with the participation of Daniel Fumero, co-director of the Canarian event.

The Isla Calavera 2019 Festival will be held under the leitmotiv of the full moon and the werewolf, with the reunion in Tenerife of the legendary master of special effects and makeup winner of seven Oscars, Rick Baker, and David Naughton, star of 'An American Werewolf in London', thirty-eight years after the release of the legendary film by John Landis. Both artists will receive honorary awards this year in recognition of their careers.

Madrid-born actress Belén Rueda will also receive the Honorary Isla Calavera Award for her career linked to the genre, with essential titles such as 'El orfanato' ( 2007) and 'Los ojos de Julia' (2010).

In addition, the 2019 Isla Calavera Festival will pay tribute to the prolific Madrid-born actor, director and screenwriter specializing in horror films Paul Naschy, on the tenth anniversary of his death, precisely on the closing day of the event. His son Sergio Molina, director of the Nocturna Madrid Festival, will also visit Isla Calavera to remember the artist and present to the public the screening of one of the key titles in the filmography of Jacinto Molina Álvarez, who since his participation in the film 'The Mark of the Werewolf' adopted the stage name of Paul Naschy.

Directed by Ramón González Trujillo and Daniel Fumero, the Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Isla Calavera is an initiative of the Asociación Cultural Isla Calavera, the Asociación Cultural Charlas de Cine, the specialized publication TumbaAbierta and Multicines Tenerife.
