The third edition of the Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, to be held from November 23 to 30 in Tenerife, will pay tribute to the film 'An American Werewolf in London' (1981), by John Landis. The event will be attended by its star, David Naughton, and seven-time Oscar-winning makeup artist and special effects expert Rick Baker, who will both receive Isla Calavera Honorary Awards. The event will also pay tribute to Paul Naschy, the most famous Spanish werewolf of the genre.

On the other hand, this year the festival will launch its first official video game, titled 'An American Werewolf in L.A.' and inspired by the 80's classic. The new game, developed by independent studio PlayMedusa as a fictional playable sequel to 'An American Werewolf in London' and its sequel 'An American Werewolf in Paris', will offer a frenetic experience with all the flavor of the classic 80's arcade games.

A tribute to the 80's in the form of an arcade videogame

An american werewolf in L.A.'. seeks to pay tribute to the fantastic cinema and video games of the 80s. To do so, it incorporates some winks to the cinema of the time and features, as protagonists, characters based on director John Landis, Rick Baker and actors David Naughton and Paul Naschy.

Faithful to the spirit of the festival, PlayMedusa has developed a Beat'm'up videogame inspired by the arcade gameplay of the old arcade machines with titles such as 'Kung Fu Master', 'Vigilante' or 'Green Beret' as references. It will be possible to play in local collaborative mode with two players across five different scenarios and against more than 10 different types of enemies.
The game will serve as part of the tribute that this edition of the festival dedicates to lycanthropy, through a multitude of references to films and video games of the 80s.
It can be played for free in an exclusive arcade space provided by Canariarcades during the event or downloaded directly from their website, which includes a special version with extra content for collectors.
