The Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, which will celebrate its fifth edition between November 19 and 27, is offering this Saturday, November 20, at 12:00 noon, at the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey in Santa Cruz de Tenerife a new edition of the Rodar en Canarias Industry Meeting that will bring together on the island prominent producers, directors and creators with representatives of the Canary Islands audiovisual sector. This professional activity is sponsored by the Development Society of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, involved in promoting the establishment of large audiovisual companies in the city, Tenerife Film Commission, Canary Islands Film and the Consortium of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), dedicated to promoting audiovisual production in the Archipelago, both foreign and national production companies.

Attendees will be able to learn in detail about the possibilities of establishing themselves in the Canary Islands and filming on the islands, both for the fantastic and diverse locations they offer, as well as for the tax conditions and opportunities that this entails.

The Meeting includes a round table discussion on the demands of a film production when working in a region, with the participation of producer Enrique López Lavigne (Apache Films), winner of the 2021 Skull Island of Honor Award; producer Carolina Bang (Pokeepsie Films), winner of the 2021 S. S. Venture Skull Island Award; Rosa María Pérez (producer at Atresmedia Cine) and Eduardo Escudero de Zuloaga (head of Business Development at A Contracorriente Films).

Dave Elsey, who won an Oscar Award in 2011 for his makeup work on 'The Wolf Man', will be attending the meeting from London. The director and renowned special effects and animatronics artist, who has also worked on the 'Star Wars', 'Indiana Jones', 'Alien' and 'X-Men' sagas, will give a presentation on his experience in major productions.

Other renowned filmmakers, some of them with films in competition in the framework of the V Isla Calavera Festival, will also participate in the Encounter to learn first-hand why the Canary Islands have become a reference for many Hollywood productions. Among the confirmed guests are names such as Paco Plaza (producer, screenwriter and director, 'La abuela', 'Verónica'), Patricia López (AMC producer), Lou Elsey (director and specialist in makeup and special effects), Marta Medina del Valle (producer of Apache Films), Javi Camino (director, 'Jacinto'), Fernando González Gómez (director, 'La pasajera'), Lucas Figueroa (producer and director, 'Despido procedente'), Santiago Tabernero (TVE producer, screenwriter and Goya-nominated director, 'Vida y color') and Javier Kirán (producer and screenwriter, 'Y todos arderán').

More than 40 accredited professionals will participate in this third edition of the Isla Calavera Industry Meeting, which aims to establish itself as a benchmark for the presentation of opportunities and to share knowledge and experiences of filming in the Canary Islands in order to promote the local industry and give visibility to the potential of professionals who develop their work in the Canary Islands.
