Peñaflor, a small town near Seville, 19th century. A strange middle-aged gentleman settles as a pawnbroker. Nobody knows his past, but he is an enterprising and ambitious man. He marries the attractive young Elvira, daughter of the richest man in town. He builds a house, with an orchard and garden, which quickly becomes a thriving brothel.
Not everyone comes back from "El Huerto del Francés" to tell the tale...
Filmed in Technicolor and Techno vision, it is one of the best rated films of the "Spanish Fantaterror" star Jacinto Molina, better known as Paul Naschy, who went behind the camera for the second time with this film.
Paradoxically, it has been one of the most complicated films to see in good conditions... until now. A restored copy was released at the Sitges Film Festival 2020 edition, which can be duly enjoyed at the Isla Calavera 2020 Fantastic Film Festival.
