San Cristóbal de La Laguna, November 6, 2024 - The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera, which will be held from November 8 to 17 in Tenerife, offers this Saturday, November 9, with the support of the Tenerife Film Commission, a new edition of the Encuentro de Industria Rodar en Canarias that will bring together on the island prominent producers, directors and creators with representatives of the Canary Islands audiovisual sector.

Multicines Tenerife will host an exhibition of the advantages of the Canary Islands as a film set, by Canary Islands Film and the Tenerife Film Commission itself, and a round table with the foreign industry represented by German film producer and director Marcus Nispelproducer and actress from Israel and the U.S.A. Tami Stronach and producer Juan Poveda(El instinto).

Other confirmed guests include documentary filmmaker Lisa Downs (Life after Neverending Story), actor Javier Botet (The Scarlet Summit), short filmmaker Alejandro López García ("Jandro", Cava), director Manuel Velasco, producer Luis Arribas, Laura Galán (Goya Award for Best Newcomer Actress for Cerdita) and director Juan Albarracín (The Instinct).

Local industry

In addition, more than thirty accredited local professionals will participate in this sixth edition of the Isla Calavera Industry Meeting, a reference for the presentation of opportunities and to share knowledge and experiences of filming in the Canary Islands, in order to promote the local industry and give visibility to professionals who develop their work in the archipelago.

This professional activity will allow attendees to discover in detail the possibilities of establishing themselves in the Canary Islands and filming in the islands, both for the fantastic and diverse locations they offer, as well as for the fiscal conditions and opportunities that this entails. An annual meeting that brings together consolidated production companies, with their experienced and unique vision, but also open to emerging producers interested in establishing their projects in the archipelago, to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the current film industry and the benefits of a territory like the Canary Islands.
