The Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera celebrates on Friday, July 18 a special event around the classic horror film The Prophecy (1976), in which guests will be unveiled, and a first preview of the program of the ninth edition of the event, which will take place from November 7 to 16, 2025.
It will be a unique opportunity to enjoy Richard Donner's film, on the 50th anniversary of the beginning of its shooting, mainly in the United Kingdom, in real settings such as Guildford Cathedral, in Surrey, in emblematic places in London and in the now disappeared Windsor Safari Park, for the scenes with animals. The premiere of the film in England took place on the symbolic 6th day of the sixth month of 1976, while the release in Spanish theaters arrived on November 8 of the same year.
Starring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, David Warner and child Harvey Stephens as Damien Thorn, The Omen is a mixture of gothic horror, psychological thriller and detective mystery. It won the Oscar for Best Original Score, composed by Jerry Goldsmith, and was also nominated in the Best Original Song category, for the song 'Ave Satani'.
This pre-festival Isla Calavera event, in which the official poster will also be unveiled, will take place at Multicines Tenerife, the official screening venue, on July 18, at 7:00 pm.
