As is tradition, the Isla Calavera Canary Island Fantastic Film Festival of the Canary Islands City of La Laguna offered an important preview of its program and guests in Sitges, as part of a meeting with professionals open to the general public that took place in the Garbí Room at the Hotel Meliá, the main venue of the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. The presentation was attended by Ángel Sala, director of Sitges.

In addition to the announcement of the first guests, John Landis and Deborah Nadoolman, and the first feature films in competition, some titles that will be part of the Classics section were presented.

Thus, there will be two special sessions in homage to 'Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens', as part of the centenary of Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's silent film classic, and 'The Blues Brothers', on the occasion of the visit of director John Landis and costume designer Deborah Nadoolman.

It will also be remembered '[REC]'the great cult title of contemporary Spanish horror cinema, will once again be shown on the big screen at Isla Calavera. The screening of Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza 's classic will be accompanied by the new documentary by Diego López-Fernández, '[REC] Terror sin pausa', which recalls the making of the film with testimonies by its creators, performers and other prominent figures.

Pre-festival events

This Friday, October 14th, the Festival Isla Calavera offers a pre-festival event at Multicines Tenerife (Centro Comercial Alcampo, La Laguna) around the 30th anniversary of 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' by Francis Ford Coppola.

In addition, on November 5, the Teatro Cine Chico on the island of La Palma will host a special event of the Festival de Cine Fantástico de Canarias Ciudad de La Laguna, with the screening of 'The Goonies' and a cineforum on the 80's classic directed by Richard Donner with the participation of actor Carlos Areces. At both events, the public will be able to get to know new previews of the Festival's program.
